Graphic Designer

Job Description

This well-known SoCal University’s Office of Communications is looking for a graphic designer to join their ranks. They need someone who will be able to design art and layouts for various print and digital materials:  brochures, flyers, posters, slide presentations, etc. and prepare them for presentation through visual media. The candidate will have to know how to use computer software programs to edit and change images, produce an assortment of artwork done by hand (drawings, illustrations, logograms), and prepare official documents using publishing and page layout software. This position will also require that applicants assist in quality control of all final artwork before submission by checking the projects in every step of the creative process. The university would also like that individuals be able to work with clients to discuss and implement different design solutions/standards for visual media objectives and meeting their design requirements. You will also work with representatives from the advertising and marketing departments to develop graphics most effectively by doing things like: deciding size and arrangement of illustrations, selecting the type and style, and assisting with the coordination of work performed by other artists, university vendors, student workers/other departments. If you can also develop and manage budgets for projects and create schedules for production (always meeting deadlines) while leading others who are performing similar project work, then this job will be the right fit for you!

Required Skills & Experience

  • Associate's degree or higher in Graphic or Industrial design
  • Work experience with production design and as a Graphic Designer, including preparation and printing
  • Full knowledge of typography, printing processes, selection of paper or other print mediums, and paper folding/binding and finishing
  • Experience with project management and team coordination
  • Ability to create, optimize, and enhance original designs, art, images, logos (also need to be able to follow and understand style guides)

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Expert skill and knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Able to perform visual adjustments, retouches, re-positioning, optimization, and packaging of finished products
